Smiles For Life, Part II: The Commitment

Categories: Smile For Life

I’ll take pies in the face, wear a tutu for a week and even make the greatest sacrifice of all: wearin’ powder puff bruin blue.

Okay, exactly 45-days ago I published a piece on Smiles for Life. I previewed the start of the national fundraiser campaign, a slam-dunk win-win opportunity helping sick, disabled, or otherwise disadvantaged children…all for the amazingly reduced cost of a brand new whiter, brighter SoCal smile.

It’s our 17th year participating and who wouldn’t want to associate with our awesome sponsors? I’d be talking about the Crown Council and Ultradent Products. The Crown Council’s members happen to be some of the most progressive and community-minded dental professionals in the land. And Ultradent puts out THE very best teeth-whitening product in the business.

But there’s more: Smiles for Life has generated over $35 million in proceeds during its 17-years…and ALL of the funds have been used to make a difference for children who could use a helping hand.

So all I’m sayin’ is Temple City Dental Care is totally COMMITTED. And when it comes to some forms of commitment, I realize I’m the weak link in our organization. And even though my commitment challenge has mostly to do with that of the relationship kind; I’m not taking any chances.

We have major goals and we’ve (I’ve) chosen to incentivize all those who could suddenly have an awesome new smile and something very cool to smile about. So I’ll be taking pies in the face, wearin’ tutus for a week or so and even making the greatest sacrifice of all.

A few years ago, I wore UCLA bruin gear for about an hour. And it was educational learning all about how the other half lives. Couldn’t get a decent restaurant table; got kicked in the shins by sweet little old blue-haired Pasadena ladies, and almost got arrested just because I was a little slow unlocking my own car.

But if we break our all-time Smiles for Life record and raise over $20,500…I will indeed don the powder puff blue and gold from head-to-toe for TWO solid weeks. I submit the following video to demonstrate I’m not messin’ around.
